As we schedule flights to Hawaii, the Caribbean and our international markets, we’re prioritizing your safety and peace of mind. That’s why we’ve partnered with LetsGetChecked and CareNow to offer you convenient COVID-19 testing for select destinations.
You must complete a test* that complies with destination requirements. We recommend:
You may use the onsite rapid testing administered by CareNow if your trip starts in Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), and be sure to add 1 extra hour to your normal check-in time for testing. If your trip doesn’t start in DFW, or includes a connection, we recommend using at-home testing offered by LetsGetChecked.
Keep in mind you won’t be allowed to fly if you test positive for COVID-19 on-site and will be responsible for any associated costs. We’ll rebook you on a flight at least 14 days after the date of your positive test.
Visit our partner sites for pricing and testing information.
*You may also use your own local testing provider. Check your destination government’s website for specific testing requirements.
VeriFLY is a secure app for iOS and Android that makes it easier to manage your destination’s required travel tasks. Upload negative COVID-19 test results and forms for travel so you can streamline airport check-in (accepted for select destinations only).
Visit the VeriFLY website for more information.
At-home testing through LetsGetChecked is accepted and must be completed within 7 days of your flight. Keep in mind that a quarantine period still applies.
Travelers age 12 and older must provide a negative COVID-19 test result from within 10 days of their travel to Jamaica. The test must meet the standards of the Jamaican government.
VeriFLY is available for those traveling to Montego Bay (MBJ) and Kingston (KIN) from Miami (MIA).
LetsGetChecked is available to customers flying to St. Lucia. Travelers age 5 and older must complete testing within 7 days of their flight and provide a negative test result to board.
LetsGetChecked at-home testing is available for customers going to Belize. Travelers should complete testing within 72 hours of departure.
To be exempt from the 14-day quarantine, you may use any of our recommended ways to get tested. You can also use other test methods, but the state of Hawaii will only accept results from trusted testing and travel partners.
Starting December 2, Kauai will not participate in the pre-travel testing program.
Keep in mind testing must be completed within 72 hours of the final leg of your trip. You also must have your test result before boarding your flight to Hawaii or you’ll be required to quarantine for 14 days or the length of your stay, whichever is shorter. Upon arrival in Hawaii you’ll show the results from at-home or in-person testing to Hawaiian officials.
Be sure to check the latest Hawaii travel requirements before your trip.
LetsGetChecked is accepted if you’re traveling to Chile. You must have a negative test result within 72 hours of your departing flight, and you’ll also need to fill out all related forms.
You can also use VeriFLY from Miami (MIA) to Chile to make it easier to manage travel requirements.
American Airlines, British Airways and oneworld® are partnering with LetsGetChecked (LGC) and Collinson Assistance Services Limited (Collinson) to launch a free COVID-19 testing program on select flights from the U.S. to London Heathrow Airport (LHR). Those who join this trial program will help show that testing programs are an effective way to fly safely between our countries and re-open transatlantic air travel.
The free tests will be available for select flights beginning November 25:
American Airlines and British Airways will contact eligible customers with instructions on how to volunteer for this trial.
There may be other travel requirements for your destination. Entry requirements are updated often, so we recommend checking the most up-to-date information before your trip.
