TSA PreCheck® Touchless ID

Save time at security

If you’re an AAdvantage^® member, you can opt in to use TSA PreCheck^® Touchless ID. You’ll go through a dedicated security lane at participating airports where a camera scans your face to confirm your identity. It's a faster and easier way to go through security — no need to show a physical ID or mobile boarding pass.

Getting started with Touchless ID

To opt in, you must:

• Be an AAdvantage^® member
• Have a Known Traveler Number (KTN)
• Have a valid passport
• Opt in to participate in TSA PreCheck^® Touchless ID with American Airlines
• Download the American app

• Not an AAdvantage^® member? Join for free
• Download the American Airlines app

After opting in, you’ll stay enrolled in Touchless ID for 12 months.

Where to opt in

You can opt in:

• Any time in your AAdvantage^® profile
• During check-in in the American app or ‘Ready to Fly’ hub if your flight departs from a participating airport

How to opt in

Before you check-in:

1. Log in to your AAdvantage^® account
2. Find the ‘Information and password’ section to opt in
3. Save your passport and Known Traveler Number
4. Scroll to ‘TSA PreCheck^® Touchless ID’
5. Check the opt-in box and save

How to opt out

You can opt out anytime by updating your AAdvantage^® account preferences. If you’ve already checked in for an eligible flight, Touchless ID will still apply for that trip.

Using Touchless ID at the airport

When you arrive at the airport:

1. Make sure you’ve checked in for your flight through the American app
2. Look for the TSA PreCheck^® Touchless ID symbol on your mobile boarding pass
3. Go to the TSA PreCheck^® Touchless ID security lane at participating airports

You're welcome to use your physical ID at any time. Keep your mobile boarding pass ready in case you’re asked to show it before entering the lane.
